Here’s what to do when you want summer to feel fun again, but you do not want to plan your whole life around it.

The park has trails, picnic areas, a visitor center, river access, and the Palmetto Boardwalk, which gives kids something to follow instead of just wandering around in the heat. Go earlier in the day, bring water, and keep the plan simple: short walk, picnic or snack, visitor center, done.

This is the kind of outing that works best when you do less. You do not need to hike every trail or turn it into a full-day mission. Just get outside before the afternoon heat settles in.
